I have a customer with AAEP 6 and Tomcat 6.0.37. Now planning to upgrade to latest AAEP 7.1 and Tomcat 7. They also have AAOD 6.x keeping it as it is.
Q. What is the best approach to follow when upgrading Tomcat?
I see following things to be taken care of (in sequence):
1. Take backup of existing AAEP 6 along with applications page (as there are lot of applications currently in production). Also take backup of all existing application codes.
2. Then Upgrade AAEP from 6.x to 7.1
3. Now, upgrade Tomcat.
4. Take all application codes, redeploy it using Tomcat 7 / AAOD 6 and regenerate the war files freshly using Tomcat 7.
5. Put all the new war files in AAEP applications page and assign them to AAEP inbound ports/VDNs.
I thought of this simple approach. Is there anything you would like to add / correct in case I have missed out anything? In short, is it really needed to have war files regenerated keeping in mind AAOD is not upgraded?
Appreciate if you could add your suggestions in this regard. Thanks for your assistance.
