Avaya IP Deskphones Development Tools & Configurations

Latest Release: J100 SIP 4.1.0.0 (Jan 2023)

9600 Series SIP Deskphone Emulators

The following 9600 Series SIP Deskphone Emulators are available for download:

The Emulators enable you to more easily test applications that interact with telephone settings and services.

The Emulator software emulates Avaya SIP deskphones on a PC, and can be used in place of a deskphone to view and test general telephone functionality and deskphone API related applications. Application Developers and System Administrators, who develop, test or implement SIP deskphone applications can make use of the emulator software to verify:

  • Web API/WML applications
  • PUSH-based applications
  • General telephony functions and configuration

Important Notes and Limitations

  • The SIP Emulator cannot and should not be used in place of Avaya 9600 Series deskphones or Avaya softphones (e.g. Avaya one-X Agent and Avaya one-X Communicator). The Emulator’s telephony capabilities are limited to allow testing, but not allow functional use as a replacement for a deskphone or softphone. As an example, after being active on a call for more than 60 seconds the emulator may change from a two–way talk path to a one-way talk path.
  • The SIP Emulator software can be used with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows OS.
  • Running multiple instances of the 96x1 SIP Emulator on a single machine is not tested nor supported.
  • In order to utilize the PUSH services of the Emulator, the computer on which you install the Emulator software should not have any existing service already running on port 80. If the Emulator is using the configuration parameter PUSHPORT default value or if PUSHPORT is configured to use value 80, and it is already in use, the PUSH services of the Emulator will not be functional. If a service is already running on Port 80 on the PC, use the 46xxsettings.txt file to set the configuration parameter PUSHPORT to a different value. Please refer to the Administering 9601/9608/9611G/9621G/9641G IP Deskphones SIP guide available at www.avaya.com/support for more information on how to administer HTTP File Server with 46xxSettings file. Make sure that the value that you will set for PUSHPORT parameter is not a commonly used one (e.g. port 8080) and does not conflict with any other service on the PC. The SIP Emulator will then use this new value instead of Port 80.
