Release 6.0

IP Office Release 6.0 was made generally available in February 2010; the latest quarterly maintenance release was issued in April 2012. This is NOT the latest IP Office release; the latest release is recommended for new development.

Features in the new release

IP Office Release 6.0 includes the new form factor of IP Office 500, and enhancements to IP Office Essential Edition, that provide added capabilities for very small businesses. The release also provides very small businesses with an evolutionary path forward, allowing them to migrate to IP Office as they grow or need to take advantage of advanced applications.

Other new features include:

  • Improved capacity and resiliency, provided by doubling the multi-site networking user capacity from 500 to 1000 within the 32 sites capacity.
  • Richer user solutions, such as the new 'Office Worker' solution, new IP Office Video Softphone and enhancements to Avaya one-X Portal for IP Office.
  • New endpoints, which include lower priced deskphones (1400 Series deskphones) and compatibility with many of the one-X 9600 Series deskphones.
  • Easy migration from PARTNER® Advanced Communications System to IP Office.
  • Integration with Avaya Aura.

Updates of particular interested to developers, include:
  • In IP Office Release 6.0 the operation of Station Message Detail Reporting (SMDR) on IP500 and IP500v2 control units has been enhanced to store buffered SMDR records (max 3000) during any controlled IP Office power downs or reboots.
  • When IP Office Preferred Edition (formerly VoiceMail Pro) is configured to use Exchange 2007 as the mail store, the Web Services interface now provides the ability to forward existing messages in to Exchange 2007.
