    Hi all!

I've recently started dabbling with writing for orchestra, and I'm having a ball!

I studied music in college (5.5 years ago) and learned a bit about orchestration on a larger score then, but not much. I've continued writing solo piano music (albeit at a hobbiest's pace) since then, so my creative juices are still flowing freely, but I'm struggling with decisions like "can this many instruments double the same note?" or "is mezzo piano soft enough for a French Horn here?" or "what impression would this idea give if the horns carried it instead of the woodwinds?".

TL;DR if you have experience with orchestration and have any guiding thoughts, I would be grateful to hear them!
