Hi,

Could I please have some explanation on how the value returned by DeviceID.getTypeOfNumber() can be interpreted. I have vainly looked for some documentation on this. For example, I have been wondering, if DeviceID returns a 'type of number' with 'Public' in it, does it mean the device is external to the switch? Similarly, would the type of number 'explicitPrivate:localNumber' mean the device is internal?

Thanks,
Gilles

I don't think I have ever seen a typeOfNumber that was not "other".

AFAIK, the type of number should reflect the Numbering Plan configured on Communication Manager. This encompasses the Dialplan Analysis, AAR & ARS configuration, Trunk configuration, Route Pattern configuration etc.

There is a description of the meanings of the various values in Chapter 4 of "TSAPI for Avaya Communication Manager Programmer's Reference".

Hi Martin,

Thank you for the information, the TSAPI documentation is helpful. I do see values other than 'other', so it looks like 'type of number' can help, but I cannot rely on it, especially if it depends on the configuration of CM.

Thanks!
Gilles
