Hi,

I'm working with an Avaya Aura 6.2 system, but I don't know if this lab has an ACE server.

Should I expect to find an ACE server listed in the SMGR's Element Inventory?

Where in an Avaya Aura 6.2 system should I expect an ACE server to be deployed?

Also, in other threads I see reference to an ACE planning and deployment guide, but I can't find this in the product documents. Did this document get incorporated elsewhere?

ACE can be interfaced to either Session Manager or Application Enablement Services.

A SIP integration through Session Manager would be evident as a SIP Entity in System Manager. Given the provisioning there is a host name, or an IP address and a name string, finding it is dependent on the provisioner using a recognizable string in ACE's hostname or name field. You could try to log into each IP in the SIP Entities and check if there is a /opt/avaya/ace directory... if there is, there is a good chance you found an ACE server.

A TR/87 integration would be located by checking AE Services. Given there is a fairly regular handshake attempt from ACE to AE Services you could check the /opt/mvap/dmcc/dmcc-trace.log.0 file to see if you see the handshake attempts. Given up through release 6.1 AE Services did not support the handshake attempt they look like this in the logs (Note that the IP 135.9.231.233 is my ACE server and it appears in the log).

You could also check the security certificate configuration in AE Services to see if ACE has been added (it is required for a working connection). These instructions are from the add a new service provider to ACE to communicate to AE Services via TR/87 documentation.. I suspect you can follow them to check to see if configuration exists... unfortunately you would need to check each AE Services server in your environment. You can find AE Services Server IP addresses by logging in to Communication Manager and looking at page 1 of the 'status aes link' SAT form


1. Log on to the Application Enablement Services Management Console web page.
2. From the Application Enablement Services navigation pane, click Security, Host
AA, and then Trusted Hosts.
3. On the Trusted Hosts page, click Add.
4. The Avaya ACE certificate common name (CN) is the ACE server FQDN. Enter the
CN in the Certificate CN field.
5. Set the Service Type to TR/87.
6. Set the User Authentication Policy to Not Required.
7. Set the User Authorization Policy to Unrestricted Host.
8. Click Apply Changes.
9. On the Add Trusted Host page, click Apply to confirm the change.
10. From the Application Enablement Services navigation pane, click Security, Host
AA, and then Service Settings.
11. Enable the check box for Require Trusted Host Entry.
12. Click Apply Changes.
13. On the Service Settings page, click Apply to confirm the change.
14. Click Trusted Hosts.
15. Verify the Avaya ACE certificate is added as an authorized host on the AE Services

On the new support site (www.avaya.com/support), after you enter a product and a release and get a listing of documents... the list may be incomplete. You need to take the scroll bar slider for the documents and move it to the bottom of the scroll area. When you release the mouse button, you will notice the scroll bar shifts up. What has happened is the page has downloaded another block of documents. Keep banging the scroll bar slider against the bottom of the scroll bar zone, until it stops shifting up. Then do a browser page search (ctl-f) for the string you are looking for e.g. "planning". The site maintainers are working on improving this behavior so this activity is not necessary.

ACE can also be interfaced with numerous other systems... I am assuming you are interested in either Communication Manager or Session Manager integrations... CS1000, CS2100, Tanberg, Cisco, and other integrations are supported.
