Dear Support,
If a call goes through the Avaya Media Server, can we record it using DMCC Multiple Registrations?
We have a customer where the same call scenario (the same caller and called) sometimes goes through the AMS, and in that case, we do not receive the media.
When the media goes through the G450 Media Gateway, then we get the media.
We receive the call events and the media events via DMCC so that part is working.
It can be a network problem, but they say the network is set up properly.
Thanks,

Yes, you call record such calls using MR.

If you receive a MediaStart event then you should be able to assume that AMS is sending RTP towards the recorder.

On the face of it, it looks like maybe the RTP is being blocked in the network somewhere.

Are you using a separate extension for recording?

Another possibility could be that the calls that use the media server are using a different network region that the recorder is not part of and not allowed to participate in those calls. Take a look at 'list ip-reg station xxx' (I think I have that form right) for the DMCC recorder's extension and the station extensions and see if they are in the same network-region or different. If different use the display network-region X form to make sure the two network regions can send media between them.

When a call is active that uses the media server, do a status station on the Recorder's extension. on page 5 or 6 you will see the transmit and receive IP addresses and ports. Verify that they are populated (those pages will not be present if the recorder is not active in a call) and point at your recorder.

So we use Multiple Registrations, so registering on the phone, no separate extension is being used.
Thanks Martin, one additional note, that in the MediaStart event, when we do not receive the media, then the MediaStart event indicates that the media target is the AMS. If you still say that we should receive the media, then thanks, I will get back to the customer with this information and ask them to double(triple)-check the network.
Thanks again both you guys,

Media Start would imply the beginning or RTP from a CM resource toward the recorder The Media Start provides the address the recorder should be sending RTP to, and by inference it says media should start flowing from the same IP. Try to get a packet capture from a mirrored port on the IP Switch the Media Server is connected to and inspect it for the IP of your recorder.
