I'm using Dashboard version 5.2.0.11 and have questions about audio playback using the dashboard.
I'm attempting to use the Dashboard app to play an audio file to a softphone.
The steps I perform are:
Start App Session
Get Device ID (x10019)
Start Monitors
Register Terminal
OffHook
Dial my softphone (x10022)
My softphone rings and I go offhook
On the Client Media tab
I change the path to my wav file c:\temp\test.wav
Press Start Media Threads button
Press the PlayAudio File button.
Windows Media Player opens and plays my file locally and doesn't seem to be sending RTP to my softphone.
When the call was connected I did see an OnMediaStarted event that has RTP/RTCP IP address and port number.
Does playback of audio use the data from the OnMediaStarted event? Is there another way to enter the destination port/IP?

Ken:
At this point in time, the Dashboard does not send RTP audio from a .wav file.
It can redirect incoming audio to a different destination though, but I don't think this is what you want.

My goal is to generate beep tones during a recording (I need to be able to customize the tones more than those provided by the PBX) and I wanted to test out the functionality in the Dashboard first.
My app is doing the same things that I'm doing in the dashboard except my rtp transmitter thread is sending RTP to the IP/Port provided by the OnMediaStarted event.
I'm not hearing audio at my softphone.
I can see my audio in a wireshark trace...
The example app Simple Record looks like it also has RTP playback functionality, is that correct?

Yes, I am pretty sure the simple record app does do some playback.
I am out of the office right now so I cannot check for sure.

the SimpleRecord dot net DMCC sample app can play a beep tone into a call that it is recording... That should give you the mechanics you need to be following for tone insertion.

In order to play a mesage on a call the media file needs to be copied to the AE Server player directory

Jad,
It depends on what audio mode you use when you register the device. With server media mode, you must place the audio file in the appropriate directory on AE Services.
If you use client media mode, all RTP will come from/go to an IP address you specify (e.g. the application) when you register the device. In that case the RTP source is fully under your application's control.
