Hi Ross,
I mean the following.
You have OD application. For example, after delivery to the Customer you mark it as version 1.0.
Customer wants a change. After delivery to Customer#1 the version of application will be 1.1.
After that an additional request for change was received from Customer. Now the version become 1.2.
So, my question is: is there any practices how to manage versions?
Currently we have VERSION.txt file where I increment the version. I do not really like that solution and thinking how to improve the process.

Either my question is stupid or nobody uses versioning in OD application?
I will be very grateful if someone share his/her experience!

Thanks for AAOD-365.
Regarding transitional audio: it is forbidden or it is not supported in VXML specs?

And one more proposal.
There is no way to group variables in Project Variables Editor.
All variables are mixed and just sorted in alphabetic order.
For example, it is more convenient to see all Configurable variables at "one place" close to each other.
Or you want to see all Simple Vars in one group or all Complex Vars in one group.
So, probably it will be good to see all vars in another way, like in two level tree Simple Variable
----simp1
----simp2...
Complex Variable
----comp1
----comp2...
Others
----Menu1
----Menu2
----WebServOperatResult1
etc...
I hope the main idea is clear.
Well, it could be an additional "view in editor" or something separate.
Of cause current implementation must be kept as is.
Please let me know what do you think.
Vasily.

Hi Gurus!
Could you please share your experience for versioning process during IVR application development in OD?
Of cause we can use file VERSION.txt and increment the version in file before delivery but may be there is a more convenient way?
Thanks in advance,
Vasily.

Hi guys!
I have one more proposal.
We have a real case: customer has a transitional audio. When IVR app does something external (web service operation or DB operation) transitional audio is used and client hears lady's voice with polite ask to wait a little bit.
If external operation takes too long time to execute customer wants to play the transitional audio at least one time with out interruption. If operation takes additional time then this audio must continue to play but without interruption if answer comes during transitional audio playing, so, it must play till the audio end.
In other words customer do not want to interrupt transitional audio but play it till the end and only after that IVR app must continue interaction with client.
I see that it is possible to set "delay seconds" before transitional audio start and minimal play seconds.
"Minimal play seconds" is an option (I know how many seconds transitional audio takes) but nobody knows how much time external operation will take, so, the number times it must play is unknown.
Indeed this requirement is quite specific since customers always want to speedup communication between ivr and client.
So, my proposal is to introduce an option like "keep playing till the end": true/false to specify that transitional audio should not be interrupted in the middle.
Another idea was to introduce an option like "minimal number of times to play transitional audio" but I am not sure that it will be demanded a lot...
Probably I miss something and it is possible to do it in some other way but I did not find how to make it work.
If you tell me how to do it I will be very happy and grateful for you help.
Thanks in advance,
Vasily.

Hi WilsonYu!
These two things are quite annoying for me. That's why I decided to publish them.
I could share my experience/proposal in the feature.
Do you have any "official" place to publish thoughts? Or this forum is enough?
Vasily.

Hi,
I do not know where to post my questions/proposals. Probably Gurus will notice them...
1. Many elements in the Palette can contain "Next" block (Specifies the next form to go to). It could be nice if you can double click Next element and move to that element. Now you need to go back to the main flow, find it manually and click it.
2. OD has Servlet block. The main purpose of that element is concentrated in the servletImplementation(...) method (or I miss something?). Well, if you doubleclick Servlet element then you won't be navigated to the Java code editior as expected but to the Servlet high level representation where you can add "Goto" element only from the palette. And you need to go back, select it on the main flow, right click, select "Edit" and only after that you will be navigated to the java editor.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Vasily.

Hi Ross,
Thank you very much for an answer!
Seems that it is a function that will save me! Sorry, I did not notice it in the OD DevGuide.
I will check it soon.

Hello Gurus!
Can someone help me with a decision?
I have IVR application.
IVR application includes web service operation. So, all Java classes are already generated.
Also I have several Servlets that use output parameter (converted to Java object).
Customer said that web service has been updated and some new significant information is added to the response.
Meanwhile IVR application contains a lot of logic connected to the old web service version.
What should I do: add a new wsoperation and carefully move all old logic from to a new classes? Or regenerate (I do not know if it is possible at all) old wsoperation entity?
My opinion is that a new wsoperation way is better but I have no such experience in the past, so, would like to ask a piece of advice.
Also, I have a feeling that it could be not so easy to clean the generated code. I mean that I will need to remove old wsoperation with all generated code.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Vasily.

Hi WilsonYu!
Thank you for a quick response!
Well, I can say that it makes some noise around but of cause the target functionality is not impacted.
The deal is in development process and tracking the changes.
I am trying to setup a development process and thinking how to make it more clear and easy.
Of cause we can live with changes in metadata and we understand that it won't affect the app.
With Java code I do not see any problem now since I switched off time stamp generation and it become easy to review.
So, if you will be able to check the improvement possibility than I will be very grateful for the help!

Hi WilsonYu,
Sorry for the topic reincarnation but one more question regarding main.flow and project.variables has appeared.
When I make a simple update in main.flow editor then in diff view I see a lot of refactoring in both files: main.flow and project.variables.
So, the real modification is really small but the files are refactored a lot.
For example even no particular modification was made in project.variables it refactored and the same lines were moved to the different position.
For example, some extract from project.variables
before:
<editpolicies>
<policy name="valuesettable" value="false"/>
<policy name="opaque" value="true"/>
<policy name="appendable" value="false"/>
<policy name="deleteable" value="false"/>
<policy name="renameable" value="false"/>
</editpolicies>
after:
<editpolicies>
<policy name="deleteable" value="false"/>
<policy name="appendable" value="false"/>
<policy name="renameable" value="false"/>
<policy name="opaque" value="true"/>
<policy name="valuesettable" value="false"/>
</editpolicies>
The lines are the same but the sequence was changed. And of case a diff tool shows a huge change in entire file.
Is there any way to make regeneration more stable?
The use case is when a designer makes a simple update and at review time the reviewer would like to see only significant change but not to dig what was the real change and where the lines just exchanged with their positions.
Thanks in advance for clarifications!
