Avaya IP Deskphones Software Releases

96x0 Series SIP Software Release 2.6

Important: The Avaya 9620C, 9620L, 9630G, 9640, 9640G, 9650 and 9650C IP Deskphones have reached End of Manufacturer Support (EoMS).

Release 2.6 was made generally available in June 2010; Service Pack 17 (Release 2.6.17) was issued in May 2017 and is supported on the 9620C, 9620L, 9630G, 9640, 9640G, 9650, and 9650C IP Deskphones. The Avaya one-X® Deskphone XML Designer Release 2.0 And PushSDK Release 2.2 should continue to be used with this release.

New In This Release

This latest service pack release is recommended for installations with Avaya Aura® Session Manager 6.3.8 or later and Avaya Aura Communication Manager 6.6 or later.

New features in SIP 2.6 include:

  • Updated LLDP support
  • Support HTTP 1.1 for connection reuse
  • Identification of the type of proxy
  • Added Support for third-party MWI
  • Call pickup alerting
  • Improved call unpark behavior
  • Support for SIP direct media
  • Support for SDP capability negotiation
  • Handling of a redirect response to a REGISTER request
  • Voice mail destination can be set through PPM
  • Improved user-friendly phone number display format
  • Support for geo-redundant sessions
  • Support for simultaneous registration with up to 3 proxies
  • New extended call pickup behavior

SIP 2.6.7 introduced the following new features:

  • Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC)
  • Support for up to Ten Emergency Numbers

SIP 2.6.11 introduced improved recovery during failover from one Session Manager to the backup Session Manager.

SIP 2.6.15 and higher are NOT supported on 9620 and 9630 IP Deskphones.

The Push API, Web API and Deskphone XML functionality in this release are unchanged from SIP 2.5.
