Release 9.0

IP Office Release 9.0 was made generally available in September 2013; Service Pack 12 (Release 9.0.12) was issued in August 2016. This is NOT the latest IP Office release; the latest release is recommended for new development.

Features in the new release

SIP Trunking Modifications and Additions:

  • SIP Response Mapping to ISDN (Q.850) Cause Values
  • RFC2833 Default Payload Configuration Option
  • Session Refresh Enhancements
  • Enhancements supported on the France2 locale:
    • Direct Early Media Support plus UPDATE with SDP
    • P-Early-Media Header for Remote/Local Progress Tones
    • SIP Trunks Empty INVITE support

Branch Consolidation and Centralization:

IP Office Release 9.0 integrates Avaya B5800 Branch Gateway (B5800) functionality enabling the deployment of the IP Office as anEnterprise Branch. Enterprise Branch deployments can be implemented using an IP Office 9.0 Standard Mode (Essential, Preferred, or Advanced) system. IP Office can be installed as an independent, standalone branch, or be connected to the Avaya Aura network and migrated to a Distributed, Centralized, or MixedEnterprise Branch to provide specific features and applications to meet the needs of individual employees in each branch location.

Web Manager for Server Edition and Standard Mode:

  • Web Manager for Server Edition is a consolidated management platform for Server Edition multi-node deployments. The Web Control server management portal has been enhanced and integrated into Web Manager.
  • Web Manager for Standard Mode features user configuration, moves, adds and changes, and import and export.

Unified Communication Collaboration:

  • The mobility client has been enhanced to work in a Voice over IP (VoIP) mode.
  • Flare Experience for IP Office now delivers multi-party audio conferencing features.
  • Instant message and presence enhancements via support for XMPP groups.
  • one-X Portal and desktop integration enhancements.
  • Avaya Session Border Controller for Enterprise support for IP Office soft-clients.

Server Edition Enhancements:

  • Enhanced scaling of Server Edition deployments.
  • Resiliency enhancements: media connection preservation, PSTN fall back, local failover for hunt groups, primary server failover controls, VM Pro licensing changes.
  • Security enhancements: Single Sign-On, secure SIP supported for trunks and extensions, capability to securely distribute the IP Office identity certificate, remote user endpoints can register with IP Office via the back-to-back user agent of the Avaya Session Border Controller for Enterprise.
  • Music on Hold now supports alternate music sources on Primary Server, Secondary Server and Linux expansion systems.
  • Soft-console enhancements.
  • Linux Contact Store support.
  • Installation of Server Edition on a virtual machine.
  • Multi-site telephony features: network-wide Park/Unpark slots, network-wide Follow Me, remote Relay on/off, Remote hunt group night service.

Automated On-Boarding and SSL VPN Enhancements:

Automated on-boarding and SSL VPN functionality was introduced in Release 8.1 in support of the new IP Office Support Services maintenance offer. Release 9.0 expands the IP Office elements that can use the automated on-boarding and SSL VPN connection, providing release over release updates to the inventory file to represent new hardware elements and additional material codes required to support the evolution of the IPOSS offering.

Deskphone and Hardware Enhancements:

  • Release 9.0 packages 96x1 H.323 Release 6.3 software.
  • VPN Client support for 9608, 9611, 9621, 9641 IP deskphones.
  • ATM Combination Card support for programming ALS and line appearances for all analog/POTs extensions inBasic Mode.
  • Digital station modules with RJ45 interfaces ("B" version) support Avaya IP Office deskphones (DS mode) or heritage Nortel digital deskphones (BST mode).

Other Enhancements:

  • The legacy E911 feature has been replaced with new functionality to handle the routing and notification of emergency calls based on new location configuration objects.
  • Alarm filtering is now available based on severity.
  • Video enhancements (RadVision/Scopia).
  • Call Admission Control (CAC) allows improved management of VoIP calls to match the network bandwidth available.
  • Park and Page enhancements.
  • System Monitor (SysMon) enhancements.
