We are interested to write an application that will update the SDB database (open new devices and etc). what is the best way to do it?

Unfortunately we don't have a great answer for you on this topic right now. The best you can do is to back up the database from the OAM web pages, then extract the file "data_flat.dump" from the tar.gz file. This is a flat file representation of the database in SQL format. You can then use a tool like Perl or ED to modify the text file as needed, and import the modified file back into the tar.gz file. Finally you will restore the database in the OAM pages.
