Hi,
We got DD installed on one of our developers laptop running on Windows 2000, and for some reason TTS in prompts doesn''t seem to work. Checked configuration of TTS in control panel and was able to play it there.  Tried install and reinstall multiple times with no luck. Other Win2K installations are working fine.

Any one came across something similar and any suggestions?

Are you using the standard Windows speech/TTS voice or have you installed some other TTS package that may conflict or not be compatible?

Also, what language are you trying to TTS?  By default, DD will generate "en-us" as the language tags and that should cause the 
English TTS engine to load, but if your machine does not have an english TTS engine, then that may cause TTS to fail.  

Using the standard windows Speech/TTS voice and using en-US. Just using whatever comes with DD installation.

It sounds like there is some configuration issue with this machine if other installations work OK.

Take a look the the Voice Browser log (on the log tab of the AVB window).  Do you see any errors logged there?

You might also want to take a look at the computer event/system logs to see if Microsoft SAPI is logging any errors.

No errors in AVB log or in event viewer. Uninstalled all other TTS on the laptop and reinstalled DD. Still no luck...

What do you mean by "Uninstalled all other TTS"?  

You may want to try to update the machine and get the latest speech kit from Microsoft.  It has to be some machine configuration that is causing SAPI to fail.
