Current setup:
WebSphere 6.1 (win 2003)
DD 4.1
VP prod - 5.0
VP dev - 4.1

We are planing on moving DD app to WebSphere 8.5 Linux server, but with no upgrade to VP.
Will the DD app run as it is? If we are to upgrade DD app to 5.0 will it work with dev VP(4.1)?
OR what are the best recommendations to move to WebSphere 8.5 without having to upgrade VP?

You can upgrade DD to 5.0. We have not run DD 4.1 on Websphere 8.5, but it should work.

with DD upgrade to 5.0 will there be a compatibility issue with VP 4.1?

Oh sorry, you need to stick with DD 4.1 if you are not upgrading to VP 5.0 as we moved to Java 6 then. Is there a reason you can't upgrade VP?

It's just the dev VP going to stay with 4.1 with out any upgrade.

The app server going to have WebSphere 8.5 and Java 1.6 on a Linux machine. If we going to upgrade DD to 5.0 do you see an issue with Java version?

I checked the matrix on Support site only OD 7.0.1 shows as it is compatible with Webshere 8.5/8.5.5. There is no mention of websphere for the other OD/DD prior versions.
Will DD5.0 run on Webshere 8.5 with java 1.6?

It's just that we haven't tested the configuration. It should run that way though.

That's also something we haven't tried. DD 4 used java 5 and DD 5 used java 6. You can try those configs as they should work, but that version of Websphere I don't believe was even available when we released 4.

This is a similar situation, so thought of posting to the same thread.
Current setup DD 5.1.17, WAS 7.0, VP 5.1

We are going to upgrade WAS to 8.5.5 and we have the option to upgrade java to 7.0, 7.1 or 8.0
1. If we move to WAS 8.5.5 with java 7.0, will DD 5.1 able to support that? will this work with VP 5.1?
2. It seems like OD7 support WAS 8.5.5, will this work with VP 5.1?

OD 5.1 will probably work but I encourage you to upgrade since we ended support for OD 5.1 long ago.
OD 7.1 will run on VP 5.1 as long as you don't use any new features for OD 7.1. That means the old apps you import from OD 5.1 will work.
