Does anyone happen to know how to remove modules from appearing in the palette? I imagine that the items to be displayed are in a configuration file somewhere. There are so many that I have to close them to see the OD palette options. I have checked the box titled (something like) "close drawers upon opening..." but this seems to have no effect?

click on the module, then use the context menu and select delete.
