I have added PomPDCInstallerSite_4.00.01.146.jar to OD 8.1.0.0601 and after the restart I get the error Could not create the view: com.avaya.sce.navigator.view and I have to reinstall eclipse to resolve this with no path forward on adding the PDC. I have successfully added PomPDCInstallerSite_4.00.01.145.jar to OD 8.1.0.0601 with no issues but failures with .146 and .147.

See attached images for screenshots of install version and error.

What needs to be done to allow OD 8.X to use the .146/7 PDCs?

Thank you.

Hi.

I unsuccessfully tried to reproduce the issue on my environment, the POM PDC was installed with no problem.
The POM PDC 4.00.01.146 can be installed successfully on the AOD 8.1.0.
You can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ailmlt5e9YU

Here what I tested

AOD Version 8.1.0
POM PDC 4.00.01.146

My environment:
Windows 10
Apache Tomcat 9.0.39
OpenJDK 1.8

I tried also with

OD 8.1.1_0801
Java JDK 1.8.0_221
POM PDC 4.00.00.145

and it works fine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6-KwKmQ3pc

Your issue sounds as an installation problem.

Did the OD work fine before installing the POM PDC ?
Did you install additional software on the AOD before installing the POM PDC ?
If the AOD was working fine before, most likely something happened to the Eclipse (on which the AOD is running) while installing the POM PDC. It was meessed up.

What to do

a) Firstly, just try to recompile the project (see attached picture) then test;

b) In case the step a) does not work, I suggest to

- export all your projects (at least the important ones you don't want to lose)

- remove/delete/uninstall the current OD 8.x

- download a new fresh OD .iso file

- reinstall everything from the very scratch (copy/past the OD main folder from the .iso file to your OS, setup the OD and import again all important projects)

- test

Note: When you install the POM PDC, pay attention to uncheck the boxes for updating all the other modules of OD, that can make the AOD crashing.

Thank you Massimo for your kind reply!

I have attempted this multiple time with different OD versions and it results the same way- a corrupt palette.

I appreciate your videos- they do show that this can be done successfully- which I completely would think would work, but for some odd reason, it is not working for me.

The link below is a video of my starting from scratch with a new OD
OD Version: 8.10.06.01
Java: jdk1.8.0_261
PDC: PomPDCInstallerSite_4.00.01.146.jar

I just can't figure out what the issue is.

Any insights?

Thank you, Ray

Hi.

On your video, I see Windows 11 is running on your machine.

- You should perform a fresh installation of the latest OD 8.1.2, take a look at this thread:

https://www.devconnectprogram.com/forums/posts/list/25916.page#p166035

Officially, Windows 11 is mentioned only on the Avaya Compatibility Matrix for the OD 8.1.2, so there is no support for the OD 8.1.0 and 8.1.1.

- Any chance to test the same stack (AOD 8.10.06.01- JDK 1.8.0_261 - PomPDCInstallerSite_4.00.01.146.jar) on a Windows 10 machine ?

- Is Windows 11 running on an Apple machine (MacBook/iMac/iMac mini/iMac server) ? If yes, I suggest to retrieve a native Windows-based machine and test there the latest OD 8.1.2.

Hi Massimo,

Correct, I am using Windows 11.

I have been using multiple versions of OD 7.X through 8.X with no issues on Windows 11 at all with testing, building, exporting...

I have OD 7.2.3.0803 using POM PDC .145 with no issues. I have the issue when going to use the POM PDC .146 or .147.

This is the first time I am trying to upgrade a POM 7.x application to OD 8.X for POM 4.0 support, so I will try to see if 8.1.2 will load the PDC.

More to come....

In case you see many "FrameworkEvent ERROR" on logs after installing the POM PDC, in order to fix them all, try to unblock the .zip installation file (see the picture below)

This issue

- is not platform related: it happens on both Windows 10 and 11
- is not hypervisor related: it happens on VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hiper-V as well on Windows 10 and Windows 11
- is not Java related: it happens with all Java releases (tested several JRE 1.8 and JRE 11)
- is not permission level related: it happens running the OD as admin and as standard user
- is not POM PDC dependent: it happens with the PDC .145, .146 and .147
- it seems not related to the Antivirus software, the firewall or the VPN connection

but

- it happens on the OD 8.x (OD 7.x works fine) only on some specific devices (pc/laptop/workstation/server) running the same Windows version/release , here the evidence:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ailmlt5e9YU

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6-KwKmQ3pc

Additionally, the Eclipse logs say just several plugins, after the installation of the POM PDC , are missing/their dependencies (Invalid input .....- java.io.IOException: Unable to resolve plug-in ..... ) while the Windows Event Viewer reports only a warning for the Eclipse "RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64" that simply means the OS has detected a resource intensive process running which isn't managing its memory very well (it isn't a memory leak, it is "pre-leak", meaning the OS' RADAR function thinks this could become a memory leak.

Workarounds

a) [Strongly suggested]

Use a working stand-alone OD 8.x with the POM PDC already installed.
If you have no chance to retrieve that, you can submit a Technical Support ticket on the Devconnect portal: https://www.devconnectprogram.com/technicalTicket/create
In case you don't have a Devconnect account, please register and use your Devconnect ID to access the link above.

On the ticket
- specify the OD 8.x release you need (ex. OD 8.1.2);
- specify the POM PDC release you need (ex. POM PDC 4.00.01.147) compatible with the OD 8.x requested above.

You'll receive all useful info to download the .zip file. Then

- download the .zip file
- unzip the file
- copy/paste the OD 8.x on your laptop/desktop PC (no need to install, you can use it as stand-alone software, in this way you can also use multiple OD versions on the same host)
- run the OD 8.x for the first time
- make sure the POM PDC version you requested is properly installed, you should see something as the picture below on Attachments (that is for the POM PDC 4.00.01.147)
- set up/configure the OD from the very scratch (enable trace logs, set up the App server directory, select the JRE, check the Compliance level, etc...)
- test if it is working fine

b)

After installing the POM PDC on the OD 8.x, on the Eclipse logs

Log File Location : <workspace_directory>\.metadata\.log or /home/<name_user>/workspace/.metadata/.log

In Eclipse IDE: Window -> Show View -> Other -> General -> Error Log

In Eclipse IDE: Help -> About Eclipse -> Installation Details -> Configuration -> View Error Log

search for the full list of missing plugins. Then, using the stand-alone version of the OD, collect them all on a folder/directory. Try to reinstall the POM PDC from the scratch on the OD then paste all plugins on the OD and restart.

c)

Continue working, for now, with the OD 7.x even though it is "End-of-Sale" and "End-of-Support": https://www.devconnectprogram.com/site/global/products_resources/avaya_aura_orchestration_designer/releases/7_2/index.gsp
