Adding to this post as I have similar issue and concern with REST axis use

We also wanted to try/catch and capture http status code (errors), e.g. 401 and 500

What I found;

If localddtrace=disabled, then the script ignores the try/catch block, and carries on with the Default branch, as nothing happened (the result set is empty)

In addition, the DDLOG4J.properties file in the project data folder had to have level set to DEBUG manually to capture the error and also allow me to write my own script trace elements.

log4j.logger.Dialog.Designer.TraceWriter.RestTest= debug, TRestTest

Ideally need ability to capture http status in try/catch but without flooding log files with trace info from DD. Require just our own trace statements for none error situations.

Has there been any updates since this post was first created or resource to review?

Will have to look at tomcat more, always been MS developer and IIS person before picking up OD scripts team so tomcat quite new to me.

I would have thought it would be a topic of discussion and have some form for guidance, after all, updates to scripts and deployment to production environments is an important activity and customers don't like down time!

It may seem picky but it is important. We are advised to use the simulator to develop and test scripts before releasing, and in reality and from a practical point of view testing on the sim saves time.

In this scenario I am trying to work around limitations in OD to trick a Menu object into being dynamic enough to have options not available while still having the <choice> not make the script fall over, by setting dtmf to 10 and setting interdigit timeout to 1ms so in reality only single digits are allowed. This is to create dynamic menu of options which leave no dtmf gaps.
Not possible to run that on sim to be happy it works, have to export to EP to test. Trying to limit the need to do that kind of activity as time consuming.

Do you know of any faq that covers what limitations SIM has?

Does the simulator not work with the Properties object against a node?

I set the terminating timeout to 3s but it never seems to trigger.

Checked Dev Guide but no mention not supported in simulator

On similar note; is there an FAQ that describes the limitations and issues with using Simulator for the development stage testing, had a look around but not found anything so far.

Thanks for info, that allowed me to undeploy and redeploy script.

I tried to deploy when existing script was running, and when stopped, neither perform an in place upgrade.
Is that not possible?

In a production environment how can I provide updates without taking the service offline for a period?

Forgive me if this is somewhere but searched and could not find info.

When I go to undeploy a script in tomcat I get a failed to delete message.
Looking at the folder the data/log folder still exists with the report.log and trace.log which are locked, preventing deletion.

Using Process.exe I see its tomcat itself locking these files!

The test script DOES have trace commands, I was also looking to keep some minimal logs in script I am developing, certainly in early deployment.

Ideally, I would have liked ability to deploy same war file name (updated script) to same location in tomcat manager app and for that to update the running script.

What is best practise to re-deploy a script (war) from OD?
What is best approach for managing script updates to a live environment?

All info I see is regarding first time install, fine and dandy but that works fine, its updates seem to conflict with.

I have just had the 3 day introduction course as I have a customer project which needs to be delivered on EP.
The course was not that great, and that's not just my grumble, 2 of the others expressed same sentiment.

Forgive my frustration, just finding the esoteric nature of OD painful. I actually developed a script back in 2009 and that's the last time I touched it. Looks like OD has barely advanced though. Quite archaic environment.

I have recently developed apps using Voxeo, a cross platform vxml/ccxml environment (in eclipse as well) and it is frankly years ahead as a development tool.

I will get used to OD but I get frustrated when losing a whole day for something that ended up being a simulator bug, and quite a fundamental one at that.

Thanks for pointer, downloaded and copied 7.2.1 folder from ISO and tried test project..... simulator works now.

So spent whole day thinking I was doing something wrong (new to OD so questioning what I am doing all the time) and it turns out 7.2.0 has a pretty major bug with a fundamental element of the simulator...

I don't trust OD right now.
I installed to new folder, loaded 7.2.1 and pointed to my workspace from 7.2.0. It said upgrade which I allowed.
I did windows/preferences and pointed Tomcat to the 7.2.1 subfolder version. I got warnings about multiple jars in common/lib
No idea why... so, just created a new workspace and imported test app with a copy to workspace and guess what.. no errors

For someone new to this development environment I am finding this completely baffling at how poor the product seems to be. Instead of learning and developing a script I need to do for a customer I am fighting the environment and poor dev documentation. The dev guide is pretty awful, it looks like its written by the developer and has little explaining how to use, scenarios and no examples of use. Even the sample apps are pretty poor.

Tried the Check for Updates from Help menu and says I am up to date.

I see this is relatively old post but I am having same problem.
New to OD and have 7.2 installed, testing on Simulator at present, not got my EP env up yet to test there.

The no match and no input on a menu form do not trigger* if I put an invalid DTMF, I get error and script terminates. This is with the simulator

*Triggers IF I use the pull down list box on Simulator to say "No Input" or "No Match".

So, if I have a menu with 3 choices DTMF 1 - 3, and I press 4 and Send Digits, I would expect No Match to fire.
Instead script ends and VXML trace shows.

I have had the basic training 3 day course and now slightly annoyed that the trainer told us to "remove" No Input and No Match from any exercises we did as I am having great trouble capturing and use these events.

Finding OD development so esoteric at the moment, what should be simple tasks seem overly complex :(

I have searched forum and archive forum before this reply, only mention of known issues and a fix, but I cant see where to find if that's happened, new to this arena and navigating it a challenge.

I would be interested in this.

I have a project for countries where no localisation bundles are available.
Have requirement to announce numbers, values and dates in these countries.

Idea is to create a language and populate with appropriate wav files e.g. 1.wav, 2.wav with assumption the logic to form the audio response will take care of taking a value and playing the correct audio files

Document describing how localisation bundles are formed, and requirements may allow me to create my own variations for missing countries, rather than trying to produce own logic in OD to generate the audio files to announce a value

I should have said also that this script has been happily working for months.
We noticed the application server ran out of disk space so we freed some up. We also restarted the application server and tomcat is running okay.
The runtimeconfig was done along time ago by the avaya switch engineer. We developed the scripts, not configured the architecture.
I have worked my way around the system quite well since then but not proficient enough to diagnose this type of error yet.

Had an issue where I am seeing a null exception in the trace.log. It appears (to my untrained eye) that this error is being generated as part of the script initiation with the systems as the error appears before we get started. The appRoot is then getting called with the runtime.error global trap.

Below is a Good example, and the Bad Example, to show what is normally seen and what is happening now. We cannot make any calls on our script and do not even get our global announcement message played (as the whole script is TTS we had override for system difficulties prompt)

Looked at VPMS and MPP logs as best I can through web interface but cannot seem to locate matching problem.
Any ideas whereabouts this is actually failing??

I perform a Blindtransfer to a VDN and set the AAI.
However the AAI does not get received at the client end.

We have our own CTI software that received the transferred call and routes to an extension and gives us a stream of the AAI from a TSAPI link from our server.

The UCID/AAI etc always appears from our CTI and I know our client shows all info on call from AES but VP does not appear to add the information. This is on H.323.

Any reason for this, seems quite fundamental the ability to tag a call with data!

If we transfer a call to VP with AAI already populated, we see that value appear at the client. However I need VP to do this as it is variable based on some lookups.
