The Webcam sample application describes how the Avaya IP deskphone Web browser can be used to display near real time images captured from a PC-based Web camera. The application consists of two parts. One part is a WML page which is loaded by the Avaya IP deskphone Web browser. It displays a JPEG image stored on a web server and uses an event timer to repeatedly refresh itself. The other part is a Java application that uses the Java Media Framework (JMF) classes to repeatedly capture images from a Webcam and store them on the web server. Together they show how an Avaya IP deskphone can be used as part of a remote surveillance system. The application works with Avaya 9600 Series IP deskphones.
